EU AND INTERNATIONAL LAW - Law

WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty (WPPT) 20.12.1996

This international treaty was signed by the member countries of the World Intellectual Property with the aim of developing and strengthening the protection of the rights of performers and producers of phonograms. Together with the Rome Convention 1961 and other EU laws, this treaty is one of the cornerstones of performers and producers’ right in international law. The European Union approved the Treaty by the Council Decision of 16 March 2000, which was then ratified by the EU and some EU countries on 14 March 2009.
